What makes it difficult right off the bat is that I never really connected with either character, but I’m not sure I was meant to. So if I miss a few notes, fumble a few points, you can forgive me.

374 pages for you, and one for me. If you love reading gritty suspense thrillers, you really must give Karin Slaughter a try. Karin Slaughter books are not for the faint of heart. As the story opens, the mind of one Duncan Andrews is ``racing like a runaway train,'' his lethargy having ``evaporated like a drip of water falling onto a sizzling skillet.''
It is a rare novel that has the potential to set science fiction on an entirely new course.
