Biography:Gilbert Strang was an undergraduate at MIT and a Rhodes Scholar at Balliol College, Oxford. He was the first to understand that linear algebra, and not calculus, is the cornerstone of engineering mathematics, and he managed to deliver consistently excellent educational content in that regard. His Ph.D. was from UCLA and since then he has taught at MIT. Strang is a great professor, excited about math, and makes the subject interesting in his lectures.
